   An act relating to public utilities.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 722, as introduced, Bradford. Utility rates: costs and rate
increases.
   Existing law requires the Public Utilities Commission to prepare
and submit a written report to the Governor and Legislature that
contains the commission's recommendations for actions that can be
undertaken to limit utility costs and rate increases, as provided.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require the Public Utilities Commission to
implement these recommendations.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require the Public Utilities Commission to
implement recommendations, made pursuant to Section 748 of the Public
Utilities Code, for actions that can be undertaken to limit utility
costs and rate increases.
